How It All Began!
In 1992, several individuals who owned British Cars in South Jersey got together to discuss their common dissatisfaction with the logistics of participating in single marque car clubs based in Philadelphia. Although these clubs had names that inferred broad geographical appeal (like Del-Val or Greater Philadelphia) our founders felt left out. Then there was the drive to evening meeting places in Montgomery County, Pa., or other far-flung and congested locations west of Philadelphia.
Why not start a car club serving all British makes and models based in South Jersey? Move the meeting places around throughout South Jersey such as Cherry Hill, Berlin, Vineland, Absecon, Tuckerton, or Medford Lakes. A mailing list was generated and a newsletter was published. The British Motor Club of Southern New Jersey was born!
Now, over 30 years later, the club has grown from a few dedicated British car owners to over 170 like-minded members who own and drive all types of British cars.
Our Mission
To provide owners of British motor cars the opportunity to enjoy their cars with fellow members, share information on the care and maintenance of their cars, promote awareness of the history of British motor cars to the public, and be responsible members of our communities.
What We Do
Our club has a full calendar of activities from January through October including:
- Club meetings, which are on the third Wednesday of the month at local
restaurants where we dine, discuss upcoming events, present a relevant topic, and enjoy the company of fellow enthusiasts.
- Driving tours; one each in the spring, summer, and fall
- Annual car shows; the Smithville Memorial Gathering in the spring and the BMCSNJ Car Show in late September.
- Auto museum visits, picnics, ice cream socials, swap meets, and barbecues.
- Pop Up Cruises; impromptu gatherings organized by members.
- Rescue Squad; helping fellow members troubleshoot and repair their ailing autos.
- Attending other car club events

Where We Do It
Our 170+ members hail mostly from the Southern New Jersey area – Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties. But we have members from neighboring states and even Florida. Our membership is open to any British car enthusiast, whether they own a car or not, and from wherever they live.

Our members collectively own over 260 British marque cars, the top six of which are:
